Boko Haram Members Killed By Army As They Tried To Attack Soldiers From Sambisa

TROOPS REPEL ATTACK ON THEIR LOCATION AT DARUL JAMEL

Troops on Operation LAFIYA DOLE stationed at Darul Jamel, on the fringes of Sambisa forest, northern parts of Borno State, yesterday(22nd August) evening successfully repelled an attempted attack on their location by remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.

The terrorists attempted to storm the troops location at about 10.00pm, but paid dearly as the troops killed several of them including two senior commanders that led the attack.

The troops recovered 1 Light Machine Gun (LMG) with Registration number 56M-1101229, 1 AK-47 Rifle Magazine, Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Bomb and 1 top cover of an AK-47 Rifle. Other items recovered include 395 Rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 15 rounds of 5.5mm by .45 ammunition.

Prior to the attack, the troops of the same unit on routine patrol earlier, had cleared an ambush staged by elements of the suspected remnants of the terrorists desperate for food near Banki Junction.

It is equally believed that the attack and ambush might not be unconnected to the fact that the terrorists were desperately targeting over 890 rescued herdsmen with their 5000 livestock being held captives by terrorists along Nigerian borders with Cameroon.

Thank you for your kind and usual cooperation.

Twelve-year-old Girl Raped By Aunty’s Customer, Son Within One Week (pic)

For many young girls, coming to live in Lagos from the villages is a turning point they look forward to with excitement. It was the same for 12-year-old Rachael (not real name), who left her native Akwa Ibom State in company with her aunty, Joy Isong.

But within days of settling in Lagos, the girl had been traumatised to the point of regretting the day she made the decision to leave her widow mother, to follow her aunty.

Within days of her Lagos surjourn, the little girl, who was enroled in class five in a primary school in Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, had been raped two different times in her aunty’s home.

“I loved to come to Lagos but I did not want to leave my mother, but my aunty said if I followed her to Lagos, I would be happy. But now, I am so sad I did not know this is the kind of thing I will come and go through here,” Rachael said.

Rachael told our correspondent that she was sleeping in her aunty’s house one evening after the woman had gone to the market.

“I just woke up and noticed that a man was lying on top of me. I tried to push him away. I knew him. I had seen him in my aunty’s house a few times,” she said.

The man Rachael was talking about is Christian Nse, a father of five, who attends the same church as Rachael’s aunty.

“He is also my aunty’s customer. I tried to push him away from me. But he covered my mouth. Music was playing inside our house then. He had increased the volume and I did not know. He told me not to shout and said he would buy me expensive clothes. I told him I did not want any clothes, but he still raped me as he covered my mouth. When he finished, he told me to go to the bathroom and clean up the blood. Then he opened the door and left,” Rachael said.

The girl sobbed till her aunty came back from the market, Saturday PUNCH learnt.

“When my aunty came back, I told her what happened and she saw that I was still bleeding. She told me to go and clean up the blood. She then went out to see the man who raped me (Nse). He asked the man what happened and they went to see their pastor together,” she said.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that when they got to the pastor, Nse admitted that he indeed raped the girl and rather than report the matter to appropriate authorities, the pastor, Mr. Ezekiel Okon, asked Nse to kneel as he prayed fervently for him, asking God to deliver him from the spirit of rape.

When our correspondent got wind of the incident and visited Rachael’s aunty in a restaurant she operates in Mafoluku, the pastor was there with her.

Okon and the aunty appealed to our correspondent to let the matter go as the girl was simply fondled but not raped.

“Please sir, the man who touched her breast is no longer in Lagos,” the woman said.

“I was notified of the issue and I even scolded the man when they brought him to me. He has promised never to do such a thing again. Please, let us just forget it,” the pastor added.

On the surface, everything was alright. Glory was in the restaurant that day. She kept quiet as her aunty pretended that nothing bad had happened to her.

Nobody said anything about the fact that few days after Nse raped her, one of Isong’s sons also raped her, an information our correspondent later got from the girl when the case was later reported to the police by officials of the Jeshabel Touch-A-Heart Foundation.

Rachael explained that after she was raped by Nse, her aunty started taunting and tormenting her with hurtful words.

She said, “She started laughing at me. She was making jest of me and saying that I would become pregnant for the man. She said when I have the man’s child, I would become his wife. I always cried whenever she said that.

“One man on our street later heard about the matter and went to tell the wife of the man (Nse) what happened. The man’s wife then came to my aunty’s house and took me to a hospital. The doctor in the hospital said that I still had some blood inside me that needed to be washed out. After he washed it out, he gave me injection and I was told to go home.”

Saturday PUNCH spoke with Mrs. Nse, who explained that she believed that her husband indeed raped the girl.

“I was angry with him. When I confronted him, he said he did not know what to say. We have been married for more than 20 years. I did not even speak with him for some weeks after I heard he raped the girl,” she said.

But that was not the end of Rachael’s ordeal.

Few days later, when her aunty was away from the house, the woman’s 18-year-old son, Daniel, who is Rachael’s cousin, grabbed her again and raped her.

“I told him that I would tell his mummy when she came back. I told him that I did not believe that he was an animal because I had always seen him like my own brother. But he just laughed after he had raped me. When my aunty came and I told her, she shouted at me to leave her presence. She said she did not like looking at my face because I am very ugly. She told me to get out.”

With nowhere to turn to, Rachael decided to tell her class teacher all she had been going through at home.

Luckily for Rachael, the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Education Authority had previously held an awareness lecture on rape and sexual assault, telling the teachers and pupils what to do when they go through such things.

The teacher promptly informed the authorities, which in turn got the Jeshabel Foundation involved in the case.

Head of the guidance and counselling unit of the education authority, who is also in charge of  sexual harassment and molestation issues within primary schools in Oshodi-Isolo, Mrs. Irene Enogwe, explained to our correspondent that her office had previously taught students to always speak out when they are raped.

“We always tell them that it is to their benefit to tell their parents when someone molests them. If their parents do not listen to them, they should be able to walk up to their teachers to narrate what happened. We are happy that the girl in this case immediately followed that instruction,” Enogwe said.

By Thursday, Founder and coordinator of the Jeshabel Touch-A-Heart Foundation, Mrs. Favour Benson, had reported the case at the Makinde Police Division.

That same day, the police rounded up all the parties concerned – Nse, Rachael’s aunty, her son, the pastor, Nse’s wife – with plans to prosecute everyone who had contributed to the girl’s woes.

Benson told Saturday PUNCH, “We will be taking her to the Mirabel Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Ikeja for treatment. We would be taking her to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for counselling. The girl has been traumatised. She needs to go through a lot of processes to get her confidence back. Even at the end, she would need to go back to her mother.

“We learnt that the doctor, whom the girl was taken to by the rapist’s wife examined her and certified her to be alright even though he was told the girl was raped. The doctor made no attempt to report the case. He should be arrested too.

“The most annoying part is that the pastor who should have also reported the matter to the police decided to conduct a deliverance on the rapist as well. After the deliverance, would the trauma of the victim vanish? He should be prosecuted for conspiracy in the crime too because all of them are members of his church. Francis is a member of the church, Christian is a member of the church, the aunty is a member of the church.”

PHCN: Power Generation Drops Further To 2,035.20MW

Despite getting 66.53 percent of the total amount of domestic gas supply for one year, Nigeria’s electricity generation has remained low.

Figures obtained on Friday (5.21pm) by our correspondent from the country’s power System Operator indicated that electricity generation had dropped further to 2,035.20MW.

This showed a drop of about 800MW from 2,841.9MW, which was given as of 12.42pm on Thursday by the SO. Ironically, the latest data from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation showed that the percentage allocation of gas to power plants in Nigeria from February 2015 to the end of January this year was far higher than what was allocated to the manufacturing sector.

The report stated that although the power plants received close to 70 per cent of the total domestic gas allocation, power generation in Nigeria had continued to hover around 3,000 megawatts to 3,500 megawatts. The Federal Government had early last year set a 2015 target of at least 6,000MW.

Although there had been series of complaints of gas pipelines rupturing by vandals, the latest figures from the NNPC’s group financial report showed specifically that gas-fired power plants got an average of 701.84 million standard cubic feet of gas per day or 66.53 per cent from February 2015 to January 2016, as against the 353.06mmscfd or 33.47 per cent gas that was supplied to industries.

The NNPC said, “From the 1,134.41mmscfd of gas supplied to the domestic market in January 2016, about 733.5mmscfd of gas representing 64.66 per cent was used for gas-fired power plants while the balance of 400.9mmscfd or 35.34 per cent was supplied to other industries.

“Similarly, for the period of February 2015 to January 2016, an average of 1,054.90mscfd of gas was supplied to the domestic market comprising an average of 701.84mmscfd or (66.53per cent) as gas supply to the power plants and 353.06mmscfd or (33.47 per cent) as gas supply to industries.”

The corporation added that “a total of 734mmscfd was delivered to the gas fired power plants in the month of January 2016 to generate an average power of about 3,237MW compared with February 2015 to January 2016 average gas supply 699mmscfd and power generation of 2,990MW.”

Operators in the power sector as well their counterparts in the oil and gas industry on several occasions had blamed the poor performance of power firms on the recurrent rupturing of pipelines supplying gas to the plants.

Even as they admitted that gas supply to power had been high when compared with what industries got, they maintained that until the trend of vandalism in the power and oil/gas sectors reduced considerably or stopped, the issue of low electricity generation might persist.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, had during the first stakeholders meeting involving operators in the power and oil/gas sectors, said that he would ensure that there was adequate gas supply for electricity generation, but frowned at the level of pipeline vandalism.

Similarly, the Executive Director, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, Mr. Sunday Oduntan, told our correspondent that the low electricity generation was not entirely the fault of power firms.

He noted, for instance, that the fall in electricity generation earlier in March this year was as a result of the industrial action by workers in the transmission arm of the power sector.

Oduntan said, “The recent fall in power generation to 2,800MW happened when workers were picketing Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company and the union mandated the transmission persnnel in Osogbo to go on strike.

“After they embarked on strike, there was nobody to wheel the energy from generation to distribution companies. And this led to high temperature in the generation companies and they were forced to shut down. That’s what happened during that period early this month.”
On allegations that power distribution companies were compounding the sufferings of electricity consumers by not ac

Simple Ways to Protect Your Kidneys, the Small Organs with a Big Impact

The kidneys are vital organs responsible for waste management that is crucial to maintain you body’s chemical balance and blood pressure. If you don’t take good care of your kidneys, you’re risking a slew of health problems, some of which could cause them to shut down altogether.
You may be aware that the kidneys filter the blood, expelling many waste products in the form of urine. But did you know that these crucial organs also neutralize acids, absorb minerals and produce hormones?
Along with the liver, the kidneys bear the brunt of the impact from exposure to toxic substances, which means that they may slowly fail from chronic poisoning. Because these organs are so important, they are able to keep functioning even at only 20 percent capacity – which unfortunately means that kidney disease can go undetected for years.
This makes it all the more important to make sure you are doing all you can to protect your kidneys.
Protect your kidneys from damage.
The best way to take care of your kidneys is, of course, to keep from mistreating them. Obviously, that means avoiding the abuse of drugs, including prescription drugs. Painkillers in particular – including over-the-counter drugs – are a major cause of kidney damage and failure. Another major cause of kidney failure is chronic sleep deprivation, which prevents all the body’s organs from getting the downtime they need to repair themselves.
Be sure to drink plenty of water, which is critical for the kidneys to fully flush out the toxic substances that they accumulate while filtering the blood. For a similar reason, make sure to empty your bladder as frequently as possible, rather than holding your urine in. Regular urine retention can eventually lead to kidney stones, incontinence and even kidney failure.
Avoid eating too much salt or sugar. Excessive salt changes the fluid balance in your body, stressing the kidneys, while studies have shown that the consumption of two or more sugar-sweetened drinks per day increases the risk of kidney dysfunction. Caffeine, by raising blood pressure, also stresses the kidneys, and should therefore be consumed only in moderation. And while a regular glass of red wine is good for you, excessive alcohol consumption is a major source of stress and damage to both kidneys and liver.
One of the major categories of toxins that the kidneys process are the wastes produced as a byproduct of protein metabolism. That’s why diets that are especially high in protein – particularly diets low in other caloric sources, requiring the body to break apart more protein for energy – are a major source of stress on the kidneys, and can lead to kidney failure.
Finally, dietary deficiencies in general can stress the kidneys along with all other bodily organs. In particular, deficiency in magnesium or vitamin B6 can increase the risk of kidney stones and kidney failure.

According to information posted on Twitter, by the Group Anonymous . US Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump’s cell phone number, social security number (SSN), and address have been made public.
The twitter message reads:
“To show that we are very serious about stopping any proposed forthright by the fascist Donald Trump we have attached a gift of sorts,” Anonymous says in a video. “Trump’s Social Security number, cell phone number and other details that might be able to assist you.”
Some people called the number Anonymous provided but it went unanswered, while the SSN has not yet been verified. Trump’s campaign hasn’t commented on the matter, and Trump himself is yet to respond.
But it appears that not all Anonymous h*ckers are in agreement regarding Operation Dump Trump. That doesn’t mean they support the Republican candidate, just that they said in chat rooms that freedom of speech was more important than his controversial messages to voters. They believe he should be allowed to his first amendment right to free speech.

U.S. man gets longest sentence ever for supporting ISIS

A New York court sentenced an ISIS supporter, 32 year old man Mufid Elfgeeh, to 22 and a half years in prison on Thursday for trying to recruit fighters to join the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) in Syria. Elfgeeh owned a pizza shop before he was arrested and convicted of providing material support to the group.

Prosecutors said that rejected his support for ISIS before he was sentenced, showing that the group did not have the dedicated support that it attempts to project.
He was arrested while he tried to buy firearms and silencers from an undercover FBI agents and authorities accused him of wishing to kill American soldiers with the handguns.
“I think that, beyond any doubt, he was interested in not only getting individuals to join ISIS but he himself was interested in and made overt steps to actually engage in violence,” Adam Cohen, the head of the western New York office of the FBI, told Democrat and Chronicle after Elfgeeh’s sentencing.
Elfgeeh is the first American accused of recruiting for ISIS and this is the longest prison sentence given to an American for supporting ISIS
