It is difficult to come back after an injury as serious as my cruciate ligament rupture in 2017 and become Footballer of the Year, which makes me proud and shows that I have taken a good path after my injury.

Super Eagles May Not Attend 2018 World Cup Qualifiers Cos NFF Is Too Broke

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is right now shopping for N85 million to execute the 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia on October 9 in Ndola. The NFF had in recent weeks been lamenting what an official described as ‘no cash’ situation to carry on their activities, particularly the fast approaching tie against Zambia. A top official of the body told The Guardian yesterday that they require about N85 million for the match in Ndola. We need about N85 million to take care of the match against Zambia on October 9, but as we speak, we don’t have any kobo in our purse. We have appealed to Globacom to come to our aid by footing the bills. We are still waiting for response from the Federal Government,” the official stated. Breaking down the NFF budget for the World Cup qualifier against Zambia, the official, who pleaded anonymity, said: “The charges for the Airline alone is $200,000 for a 140-seater plane, and it will be on ground with the team for two days. We need between $6,000 and $10,000 for flight ticket to bring in the players. Their bonuses alone are within the range of N30 million. We don’t have any kobo in our purse right now, hence the need for us to approach Glo to come to our aid. But the Federal Government still has to play its part because this is the beginning of our campaign for the 2018 World Cup qualifying ticket. If we must get it right, every hand must be on deck,” the official stated. The Super Eagles versus Chipolopolo’s 2018 World Cup qualifier was initially billed for Monday, October 3, but the hosts, Zambia moved the date to Sunday October 9 without giving any reason. The venue still remains Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. As it stands, Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign may be over before it even begins. This is because the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has said it is so broke that it cannot afford to fly the Super Eagles players to Zambia for next month’s third-round qualifier.

Cristiano Ronaldo Declares Himself fit for Champions League Final

Cristiano Ronaldo has reassured Real Madrid fans he will be fit to play in Saturday’s Champions League final against Atletico Madrid in Milan after limping out of Tuesday’s training session.

Ronaldo failed to complete training for the third session in a row, leaving the pitch with a thigh problem following a clash with Real goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

“It was a minor scare, a knock, but in a few days’ time I will be well,” the Portuguese forward told reporters. The 31-year-old missed the first leg of Real’s semi-final against Manchester City with a thigh injury but thinks he is in better physical condition than he was before the final two years today.

“I believe I’m in better shape,” he said. “I’ve had a slight problem but it’s normal as I have been the most used player in the team.
“I think this is the season where I have played the most minutes. Besides the problem of today’s training session, I believe I’m at my best level.”Real’s goalscoring machine is just one victory away from clinching his third European crown.
Ronaldo is one goal short of matching his own record of 17 in the competition set in the 2013-14 campaign whenthe team lifted the European Cup for the 10th time.“I would love to equal or even surpass that record,”Ronaldo said.

“But it is not an obsession. The record is mine whether I score or not in the final. The important thing is that we win.”Ronaldo is the all-time leading scorer in Europe’s elite club competition with 93 goals, 78 for Real. The former Manchester United player netted the last goalin the final in Lisbon two years ago when Real defeated Atletico 4-1 after extra-time.Ronaldo has amassed 51 goals in 47 games in all competitions this season but none against Atletico.“I’m focused,” he said “This is the game of our lives.
“The best two teams are in the final. I believe we are better but we have to play a good game. I think we will win and lift the European Cup again on Saturday.”

Manchester United Sacks Louis Van Gaal ?

The Dutchman's departure had been widely expected following Saturday's FA Cup win over Crystal Palace, with Sky sources understanding Jose Mourinho is set to take over as United manager.
Van Gaal left United's team hotel in London on Sunday following their FA Cup triumph, telling Sky Sports News HQ's reporter "it's over" - although United insisted that comment was referring purely to the season being "over", not his reign as United boss. However, after a meeting with United's employment lawyer Paul Gilroy QC at the club's Carrington trainingbase on Monday morning, it appears that Van Gaal and United have parted company, although there has been no official conformation as yet.I know this will come as a relieve finally too MANchester united fans.

Cristiano Ronaldo is my rival who I respect, nothing more than that – Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi has admitted there’s mutual respect between himself and Cristiano Ronaldo. As the battle for supremacy among the planet’s two best footballers continues, the Argentine says Ronaldo isn’t his friend.
Ronaldo and Messi have each shared the Ballon D’or Award since 2007 and both superstar footballers play for Spain’s two most powerful clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, leading to suggestions of intense rivalry between the pair.
But speaking to Argentine newspaper El Grafico, Messi said it’s only mutual respect that exists between them not hate or love.
“We are professionals that defend our teams, and rivals in this game, nothing more than that. Sometimes it happens that we win or that we lose. There has always been respect and nothing more.”
However, the Barcelona star made it clear that his ambitions rest on more silverware, not individual prizes.
“I prefer to win something with the national team,” he said. “I am not interested in records. They are there, but that does not make you win titles.”

In January, a picture was posted to social media of a young boy wearing a blue and white striped plastic bag with Lionel Messi’s name and number drawn on top. Since the picture was posted, it has gone viral launching a campaign to find the mystery boy and bring him together with his hero.
Murtaza Ahmadi, originally thought to be from war-torn Iraq, was found in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province. The five-year-old boy worships Messi, but because his family is very poor, they cannot provide a proper jersey for the mega fan.
